How fast must public authorities pay invoices in the EU?
Public authorities must pay within 30 calendar days. The period can be extended to at most 60 days only if expressly agreed and objectively justified, and public healthcare bodies may be given up to 60 days by national law.
If the authority pays late, the same statutory interest and 40-euro compensation apply as between businesses.
Directive 2011/7/EU (Late Payment Directive), Article 4 · European Commission and the national courts
