How much parental leave does each parent get under EU law?
Each parent has an individual right to four months of parental leave, to be taken before the child reaches an age set by national law of up to eight years. Two of the four months cannot be transferred to the other parent and must be paid.
Workers also have a right to five working days of carers' leave per year to care for a relative or a person living in the same household.
